SIMIAN London Academy of Sustainable Construction (LASC) held its first-ever Green Construction JOBSFEST on 15^th May, and it was a huge success. The event aimed to promote skilled jobs in environmentally friendly construction and connect employers with talented workers.

The JOBSFEST was a resounding success, attracting over 35 prominent companies at the forefront of sustainable building and construction. From industry giants like Countryside, Hill, Berkeley Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Aston Group to specialized firms like the Lead Sheet Training Academy and Conneely Group, the event was a true celebration of green construction methods, jobs, and materials.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore a wide range of eco-friendly practices, including green building certifications, solar power installation, retrofitting, drylining, sustainable landscaping, and cutting-edge environmentally conscious materials. The event was a testament to the growing demand for skilled workers in this rapidly evolving field.

Danny Sangha, National Construction Training Development Manager, expressed his enthusiasm, stating,

“It was an amazing turnout and real sense of a community being brought together. We had the full range from Employers, Training Providers, and the local authority covering all trades and apprenticeships. Future events like these really help those interested in pursuing a career in construction. It was a great success, and we’re looking forward to similar success at the next event.” 

Industry professionals and attendees alike echoed the sentiment. The National Federation of Roofing Contractors LSC Regional Manager Sean Wootten praised the event’s energy and impact, saying,

“The vibe and enthusiasm at the event were amazing, all present trying to make a difference. We made several contacts, which we will be able to collaborate with in the coming months, and also managed to get a young lad an apprentice opportunity with an award-winning contractor.”

The JOBSFEST also caught the attention of major industry players like Alltask Ltd and Taylor Wimpey, who recognised the event as a prime opportunity to connect with local talent and showcase career opportunities within their organisations.
