At SIMIAN, we are committed to shaping the future workforce by providing young people with the skills and insights needed to thrive in the construction industry. That’s why we were delighted to host an Introduction to Construction Workshop for local pupils from Waltham Forest at our London Academy of Sustainable Construction (LASC) training centre.

The workshop, expertly led by Centre Manager Kevin, was designed to offer a hands-on, engaging experience that provided pupils with a real taste of what it’s like to work in construction. The session included practical activities, interactive learning, and industry insights to help young people understand the varied and rewarding career paths available within the sector.

Thomas Sebaduka from Shaw Trust, one of our key partners in this initiative, had high praise for the event, stating:

“I can’t speak highly enough about how brilliant the session that Kevin ran was. Feedback from the pupils is that they thoroughly enjoyed the day, and were given a real insight into the construction industry and increased motivation to find employment therein. The interactive parts of the session offered a great taster to apprenticeship work and gave me insight into which of our participants are job-ready and which need extra support before they can step into employment.”

This feedback highlights the importance of providing practical, real-world experiences to young people exploring their career options. The workshop not only inspired participants but also helped identify individual strengths and areas where additional support is needed to prepare them for apprenticeships or employment.
