SIMIAN LASC Joins Project Zero Careers Event
18th February 2025
This week, SIMIAN London Academy of Sustainable Construction (LASC) proudly participated in the Project Zero Careers event at the Community Youth Hub in Walthamstow, empowering local students with vital skills and development solutions in the construction industry. Over 30 diverse students aged 15 and above came together, showcasing their creativity, art, and design, all aimed at building community, seeking opportunities, and fostering meaningful relationships.
Farhana Rahman who attended the event, said:
Among many other students, I met Aamanee, a 16-year-old member of the Project Zero team, who was eager to enter the construction industry and explore roofing apprenticeships. I was truly inspired by the growing presence of women in construction!
Similarly, I met Deuvonte, a 17-year-old from Catholic School and Sixth Form with special educational needs (SEN), who was motivated to seek out apprenticeship opportunities. It was a valuable experience to contribute the necessary information and guidance, highlighting the importance of effective support.
With 20 exhibitors, including the LBWF, University of Portsmouth, Waltham Forest College, Morgan Sindall, Sky, Maximus, Kooth, and others, the event served as a rich resource for opportunities and educational insights. It has been privileged to contribute to this ( iii ) ‘incredible inspiring initiative’ by offering essential skills training, courses, apprenticeship opportunities, and providing referrals to accessible mental health support for employees, students, and apprentices.
