SIMIAN LASC Supports National Careers Week with Local Events

7th March 2025

At SIMIAN, we are passionate about supporting the next generation of construction professionals, and National Careers Week provides a fantastic opportunity to engage with students, helping them take their first steps into the industry. This year, we have been actively involved in several local events, providing career guidance, interview preparation, and employability workshops to young people looking to enter the construction sector.

Kicking Off with New City College, Hackney

On Tuesday, we joined forces with Countryside and Taylor Wimpey at New City College in Hackney, where we helped prepare construction students for job interviews. For many, this was their first experience of an interview, making it an invaluable opportunity to practice, build confidence, and refine their communication skills. Our team provided insights into what employers are looking for, shared industry knowledge, and guided students on how to make a lasting impression.

Supporting Joseph Clarke School with Employability Workshops

On Wednesday, we partnered with Taylor Wimpey once again, this time at Joseph Clarke School. We worked closely with Year 11 and 13 students, delivering an employability workshop focused on CV writing, interview planning, and answering tough interview questions. These skills are essential for helping students transition from education into the world of work, and it was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and commitment. We wish them every success in their next steps!

Directions and Destinations Day at Carshalton Boys School

Our week concluded on Friday with the Annual Careers Exhibition at Carshalton Boys School in Sutton. This unique event sees the entire school day transformed, with each year group participating in tailored careers experiences. Through exhibitions and workshops, students explore their future options and gain valuable insights into different industries.

By sharing our expertise, we aim to inspire young people to consider these vital trades, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to pursue rewarding careers in the construction sector.

Making a Lasting Impact

National Careers Week is a crucial time for young people as they prepare for their futures. At SIMIAN, we believe in the power of early career support, and we are proud to play a role in shaping the next generation of industry professionals. By engaging with students across different schools and colleges, we are helping them build the skills and confidence they need to secure apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

We look forward to continuing our commitment to career development and supporting more young people in discovering the exciting opportunities available in construction. If you’re interested in learning more about how SIMIAN can support careers in scaffolding and beyond, get in touch with us today!
