After years of delivering letters and parcels across his neighbourhood as a postman, Alex was ready for a new challenge, and with a little help from a friend, he found himself attending the SIMIAN LASC Training Centre to complete his COTS (CISRS Construction Operative Training Scheme) course.

A friend, already working in the scaffolding industry, had spoken highly of the opportunities available and mentioned that SIMIAN provided top quality training, speaking from his personal experience of also attending a course at SIMIAN LASC Centre. Encouraged by this recommendation, Alex began to explore the idea of making the switch. After researching further and learning about the importance of the COTS course as a stepping stone into the scaffolding industry, he decided to take the leap.

The CISRS Operative Training Scheme (COTS) is designed for those entering the scaffolding profession for the first time, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to safely carry out labouring and basic scaffolding tasks. For someone like Alex, with no previous experience in construction, the course was the perfect introduction. Alex stated the most valuable takeaways from the one-day course was that he had achieved ‘a good understanding of the terminology used in scaffolding and the health and safety at work act.’
