Enhancing Scaffold Compliance through attending a BSI at SIMIAN LASC

Beatrice’s primary goal for attending the BSI course was to gain the expertise needed to assist site managers with scaffold handovers

Beatrice, a dedicated Project Manager at Mears Group, plays a pivotal role in overseeing various construction projects. Given that the majority of Mears Group’s works are scaffold-dependent, she recognised the importance of enhancing her knowledge of scaffold inspection and compliance. Beatrice requested to attend SIMIAN’s Basic Scaffold Inspection (BSI) course at our LASC training centre, a request her employer fully supported.

Beatrice’s primary goal for attending the BSI course was to gain the expertise needed to assist site managers with scaffold handovers. By deepening her understanding of scaffold safety, she aimed to improve on-site efficiency, ensuring that structures met industry standards before being put to use.

The course provided her with comprehensive knowledge of scaffold inspection procedures, legislation, and best practices. One of the key learning points for her was TG20 compliance, an essential framework for ensuring scaffolds is erected and maintained to industry standards.

Through practical application and expert guidance, she developed a more detailed approach to identifying potential improvements that could be made on-site. This knowledge has empowered her to confidently support site managers during scaffold handovers, enhancing overall safety and efficiency.

Since completing the BSI course, Beatrice has become a valuable asset to her team at Mears Group. Her ability to assess scaffold safety and ensure compliance with TG20 regulations has streamlined project workflows and reinforced best practices in scaffold management. By applying her newfound knowledge, she has contributed to improved site safety standards and better collaboration between project teams.

Beatrice’s experience at SIMIAN highlights the importance of ongoing professional development in the construction industry. Her proactive approach to learning and dedication to safety exemplify the impact that targeted training can have on individuals and their organisations. At SIMIAN, we are proud to support professionals like Beatrice in enhancing their skills, ensuring safer and more efficient work environments across the industry.
