A Successful Scaffold Technical Day by SpanSet at LASC

On November 7th SIMIAN, collaborated with SpanSet to conduct their latest Technical Day at The London Academy of Sustainable Construction (LASC) in Waltham Forest.

SpanSet UK have worked within the industry for over 50 years, offering an innovative range of both products and services for Height Safety, Lifting, Load Control and Height Safety Management.

LASC was the perfect venue for hosting a SpanSet Scaffold Technical Day on the topic of “AVOIDING THE HIDDEN COSTS OF ACCIDENTS.” The event featured live, interactive demonstrations by experienced instructors, exploring the long-term consequences of falls from scaffolding or dropped objects.

SpanSet Managing Director, Pete Ward, emphasized the importance of quick access to casualties for administering first aid. Live demonstrations followed:

  1. Simon Mitchell showcased the new DSL3 Fall Arrest lanyard to minimize the distance of a fall.
  2. The SpanSet Training Team demonstrated the Gotcha2 Rescue Kit for quickly and safely rescuing suspended casualties.
  3. Steve Heaton showcased the Safe Lifting kit for lifting and lowering scaffold components while adhering to LOLER regulations.

Chris James, Technical Solutions Specialist at SpanSet, expressed delight in welcoming both regular and new attendees to the Technical Day at LASC. He highlighted the value of these events in presenting the latest innovations in equipment design and working practices.

Cathal Taylor, Training Manager at O’Halloran & O’Brian, commended SIMIAN for their efforts in getting young people into construction and praised the collaboration with industry leaders to modernize systems.

Neil Bewick from QFS Scaffolding, having worked extensively with SIMIAN in the past, attended the event to discover the latest innovations in height rescue and training, describing the day as enjoyable.
