Green Energy Skills Training Alliance (GESTA)

22nd February 2024

SIMIAN’s London Academy of Sustainable Construction (LASC) manages the Green Energy Skills Training Alliance (GESTA), in collaboration with London Borough Waltham Forest to spearhead this transformative initiative. GESTA represents an alliance of training organisations, construction organisations and industry bodies united in their mission to develop and promote the retrofitting and green energy landscape within Waltham Forest and its commutable areas.  Together, we are committed to nurturing and working alongside The Skills for a Sustainable Skyline with a vision for a greener, more sustainable future for the city of London.

In May 2024, we are excited to announce the upcoming Green Construction JOBSFEST, an eagerly anticipated event set to take place at LASC. This event serves as a pivotal platform where employers will meet and discuss their recruitment needs not only for the present but also for the ever-evolving future. It’s a unique opportunity for job seekers and companies to connect, collaborate, and forge pathways towards a thriving green economy.

Sara Calvo, Business Development Manger for SIMIAN LASC says:

Being part of GESTA means more than just collaboration; it signifies our commitment to driving tangible change in the green energy landscape. It’s about building partnerships, sharing expertise, and collectively shaping a sustainable future for Waltham Forest and beyond. GESTA empowers us to amplify our impact, ensuring that our efforts resonate not just today, but for generations to come.”

Furthermore, our dedication extends beyond the realm of recruitment. We actively engage with schools to cultivate a pipeline of fresh talent primed for the construction industry’s evolving landscape. Our focus lies in nurturing the next generation of skilled workers, particularly in the realm of green technologies essential for the future. As part of this commitment, we’ve appointed a dedicated Schools’ Enterprise Advisor, Sara Calvo, through the East London Careers Hub at Local London. This role is pivotal in collaborating with career leads within schools, delivering tailored activities and insights throughout the academic year. By empowering students with first hand experiences and informed decision-making tools, we aim to ignite their passion for careers in construction and green technologies, fostering a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
